With the MAVinci Desktop software you can plan your mission with little effort. You can plan your flight at your desk at the office, or even offline just before take-off, when you are already in the field. Select the area to be surveyed in just a few clicks. The software calculates the flight paths taking into account the required altitude, terrain, and battery life. Tipp: When using the PRO version, you don’t need to manually set control points beforehand to achieve high-precision results. The PRO version is especially recommended if you want to access an area that is hard to reach.
The final flightplan is transmitted wirelessly to the aerial drone. Without an additional catapult, it is launched safely from the hand. Simply throw it in the air. The aircraft is so stable that take-offs are possible despite wind speeds of up to 50 km/h, with gusts up to 65 km/h, and when it rains.
During the flight, you can follow the route live on your screen. Controlled by the autopilot, SIRIUS follows the specified flight path and independently takes the required aerial photographs. It is not impeded by poor weather conditions. MAVinci Desktop offers information on all the important flight parameters, such as the battery status. You can change the flight plan at any time and transmit it to the aerial drone at any time during the flight. Using simple control commands, you can also intervene manually if required. Note: Wind speeds of up to 50 km/h and gusts of up to 65 km/h, rain and temperatures of -20°C to + 45°C are no problems for the SIRIUS.
The drone lands completely automatically. To circumnavigate any obstacles, we recommend controlling the drone with simple movements to the left and right, assisted by the autopilot but controlled manually. This makes very precise landing possible.
Good to know: Especially impressive about MAVinci’s aerial drone is its stable construction. The airframe can easily withstand more than 200 landings unscathed. Some SIRIUS frames have completed more than 500 landings. The frame can be replaced separately and at low cost, while the technology onboard the UAV can be transferred to the new body.
5. Data checking
Directly after the flight, MAVinci Desktop rapidly calculates a quality preview to allow you to check the data for accuracy. You can see immediately if there are any gaps and whether the photographs of multiple flights were overlaid correctly or incorrectly. A quick and zoomable image preview also reveals details so you can verify whether the requested objects were recorded.
6. Post-processing & analysis
Various image processing programs and analysis tools can be integrated into MAVinci Desktop. Via MAVinci Desktop you then use these programs to create highly accurate aerial images, orthophotos, point clouds, triangulations, terrain models, or fully textured 3D models without any manual intervention.
