Safety comes first: safety features

We want you to safely bring your project to a successful conclusion. It is important to us to integrate safety systems that warn you of dangers and prevent injury. Our MAVinci SIRIUS UAS is therefore approved for operation even in countries that have extended air rules.

+ Autopilot

Take-offs, flights, and landings can be performed fully automatically based on the flightplan. However, it is always possible for obstacles to appear suddenly. Helicopters, parachutists, or other flying objects can enter your airspace at any time. To avoid collisions, we recommend that you intervene manually. With simple movements you can easily navigate the UAV around the obstacle. The autopilot will assist you in this task and continues to ensure stability. In this way, you can also land your UAV very accurately in case a fully automatic landing is not possible due to the presence of trees or other obstructions.

+ Altitude adjustment

The built-in altitude adjustment feature already corrects elevation differences automatically during the flight planning stage. In both empty and built-up spaces, this ensures a constant and safe distance to the ground and prevents collisions with mountainous terrain or other fixed obstacles. This is also the case if the UAV needs to fly an unplanned route or if the flight plan is changed during the flight. In addition to safety, these features ensure consistent data quality.

+ Electric motor safety switch

A special safety button on the side of the UAV’s fuselage ensures that only the operator can restart the system. The motor can thus in no way be inadvertently activated before take-off or by another person. One touch of the button after landing is sufficient to secure the motor and the system again.

+ Live monitoring

During the flight, you have the ability to track the UAV on screen and to react directly to warnings. In emergency situations, the autopilot continues to stabilize the UAV. Using MAVinci Desktop, the flightplan can be restarted remotely, or the UAV can be guided back using the Return Home button. Emergency situations include: battery or motor failure / loss of GPS signal

+ Define emergency situations

MAVinci Desktop lets you pre-define actions that will occur after a specified period of time in case of sudden events. These may include: loss of GPS signal, termination of the radio links, or failure of the remote control. With this feature, you can specify, for example, whether the UAV should automatically activate the Return Home mode if the radio link is terminated.

+ Airspace maps

MAVinci Desktop already points out safe and restricted airspaces during the flight planning stage by means of coloured markings. For this purpose, Open Airspace maps with current airspace definitions have been uploaded.


+ Airspace surveillance system

The airspace surveillance system warns the operator early on to avoid collisions. The system is equipped with the following standard systems such as ADS-B, FLARM, MODE-S, and MODE-C, which are also used by planes and other flying objects.

The hardware upgrade for the airspace surveillance system can be purchased from MAVinci.

Good to know: The wireless connection to the UAV has a range of up to 6 km. In the EU and other countries with a 100 mW output limit in the 2.4 GHz band, the transmission power is automatically reduced. The range is then only up to 2.5 km.
